Purses for Food
This was my first project. I made tiny and beautiful purses out of ribbon, beads and floss and sold them for $5.00. I raised $1,100.00 dollars. I donated $1,000.00 to the Daily Bread Food Bank to help feed people including 60,000 little kids in Toronto who rely upon food banks.. I used $100.00 to pay for supplies for my next project.
My Trip to The Daily Bread Food Bank
On December 1st, 2006, I visited the Daily Food Bank in Toronto. I was greeted by Linda Ciotola. She was really nice. I showed her the purses I made and gave her some for herself and her colleagues. I presented her with the check for $1000.00. She then gave me a tour of the facility. I saw the sorting and packing area where volunteers were busy. There were boxes and boxes of food. I also saw a their huge kitchen where they prepare meals to deliver to serve to hungry people. I got a coloring book designed by one of their volunteer. It had a great time. I feel very happy that I am blessed to have food on my table. I feel happier that I was able to help other people. I want to thank all the people who helped me with my project and all the kind people who purchased my purses.
